My guess is that the entire reason for the interview (and I use the term loosely, in O'Reilly's case) is to distance the Fox Position from saying "McCarthy is misunderstood". And maybe to attack her for not going after Bill Maher (a man with his own show and some... interesting opinions on a range of issues. See for example his thoughts on vaccines). While I'm linking to Bill Maher's website, you should check out his interview with Ann Coulter for some outright lunacy:

COULTER: [overlapping]—Ronald Reagan would not have been reading at a school. My objection is that the most powerful leader in the world is taking the time to sit in kindergarten classes and read textbooks as president. But I’m not the one who said women should have the right to vote.

When I'm back from the US I'll change over to a better comment spam solution "for your convenience and security."

I wonder if it's because O'Reilly went hard on Mike Moore for using that hyperbolic style, and has enough integrity to condemn Coulter for using the same style? A pleasing development, if so.

PS: I hate your Turing test because it keeps telling me that I am a machine. I get I and 1 and 0 and O mixed up all the time. Wordpress then eats my comment, so if I didn't defensively copy it to the clipboard first I have to type it all again. Sometimes I don't bother (maybe that's a good thing :)
